Bay State Savings Bank Raises Funds for Worcester P.I.F. (Pay It Forward)

August 12, 2016

WORCESTER, MA – August 2016Bay State Savings Bank raised $3,500.00 for its Champions for Children honoree, Worcester PIF (Pay It Forward) at the Taste of Shrewsbury Street in June. The event, presented by Shrewsbury Street Area Merchants Association and media sponsor, WXLO Radio, provided an opportunity for Shrewsbury Street restaurants and vendors to showcase their wares, by offering “tastes” to the public for the price of an admission button.

The Bank collected donations for Taste of Shrewsbury Street buttons in its branches before the event with proceeds going to the charity, Bank employees donated $5 to wear jeans to work on several “Dress Down” days to help the cause, and…there was a Dunk Tank. At the Taste of Shrewsbury event, Celebrity “dunkees” from WXLO Radio and Bay State employees took turns being dunked by passersby.

Representatives from Bay State Savings Bank, Shrewsbury Street Area Merchants Association and WXLO Radio presented Worcester PIF with the proceeds from the event at a Check Presentation Ceremony on August 10th. “The money raised will go toward scholarships for local children to participate in our athletic programs,” said Diago McClain, Founder and CEO of Worcester PIF. “We are very grateful to Bay State Savings Bank, the Shrewsbury Street Area Merchants Association and WXLO Radio for their generous support.”
