Bay State Savings Bank Collects Donations for Sweetpea Animal Shelter
December 4, 2015
WORCESTER, MA / December 2015 – At a time of the year when most people are looking forward to visiting with family and friends and counting their blessings, the staff at Sweetpea Animal Shelter in Paxton are grieving over the recent loss of their “family” and “friends” in a tragic fire that destroyed the Shelter building containing over 50 adoptable cats and dogs. Only a few of the animals survived, and the structure is a total loss.
“When we heard about this terrible tragedy,” said Diane Giampa, SVP/Human Resources & Marketing for Bay State Savings Bank, “we felt horrible and wanted to do something to help. We typically raise money for special causes like this through ‘Dress Down’ days, where employees donate $5 to the designated charity for the privilege of wearing jeans and sneakers to work. Our employees were so moved by this story that they wanted to do two ‘Dress Down’ days!”
The end result was a $325.00 donation to Sweetpea to support veterinary care and to help with rebuilding the shelter. “The Bank is thrilled to be able to support this worthwhile organization,” added Giampa. “We wish Sweetpea all the best as they move forward.”
