Bay State Savings Bank LuLaRoe "Shop for a Cause" Event Raises Funds for Senior Fraud Helpline
April 28, 2017
WORCESTER, MA / April 2017 – On Friday, April 14th, Bay State Savings Bank hosted a “Shop For a Cause” event in partnership with LuLaRoe and 10% of every purchase was donated to the Senior Fraud Helpline. The Helpline, which is currently being established by RSVP/Family Services of Central Massachusetts and a group of Worcester-area volunteers, has plans to launch countrywide this fall. The Senior Fraud Helpline will aid in all efforts to prevent and reduce financial fraud targeting seniors in Worcester. It will be a resource which will direct seniors to referral sources that can appropriately address their issues, e.g. law enforcement, social services and/or legal advocacy agencies.
This event provided an opportunity for Bay State employees, customers and visitors to shop for LuLaRoe brand clothing at the Bank’s 28 Franklin Street branch. $200.00 was raised to support the Senior Fraud Helpline, and the donation was matched by Bay State Savings Bank.
“The ‘Shop for a Cause’ concept has been a successful and fun way for the bank to raise money for non-profit organizations,” said Diane Giampa. “We get to collaborate with a small, independent business person, such as our LuLaRoe representative Jackie McGourty, offer boutique space and access to new clientele, and they get to help us support a great cause. It was fun for employees and visitors, providing a convenient opportunity for people to do something they would be doing anyway, with the added bonus of supporting a local charity and a local business.”
