10th Annual $5,000 Dig for Cash a 'Dig' Success!
March 18, 2014
This year’s recipient of the proceeds is Worcester Junior Sharks Youth Hockey Pre-Concussion Testing Program (imPACT), a computer-based test that provides doctors with a baseline to help determine if a player is suffering from a brain injury after a collision. Test results are available in a national database and will remain available to a child’s doctors regardless of what part of the country they live in.
Sponsored in part by WXLO Radio and Wachusett Mountain, the $5000 Dig for Cash took place at Wachusett Mountain in Princeton, MA. Lift tickets for the event, which typically cost over $40 for 6 hours of night skiing, were offered in advance at all Bay State Savings Bank branches for a $25 donation to Worcester Junior Sharks Youth Hockey Pre-concussive Testing Program. In addition to reduced lift ticket prices, $5,000 Dig for Cash attendees had the opportunity to win a total of $5,000 in cash, prize give-aways and gift cards.
“With so many recent news stories of youth experiencing serious sports injuries, and concussions in particular, we felt strongly this was an issue that needed support,” said Diane Giampa, SVP/Human Resources & Marketing for Bay State Savings Bank. We believed we could make a real impact by supporting an organization, like the Worcester Junior Sharks Youth Hockey program, that is trying to screen for and prevent these injuries as well as provide valuable education to children and their families.” The event raised $4,500.00 to benefit the Pre-concussion Testing Program.
